A Florida sheriff’s deputy was arrested Tuesday for having sex with a teen he supervised in the department’s youth cadet program, including several trysts while on duty, officials said.

Bay County Sheriff’s Deputy Matthew _____, 21, admitted to sexual relations with the 17-year-old a total of seven times.

The agency said _____ acknowledged having illicit contact with the victim while on active police duty.

“The Bay County Jr. Deputy and Explorer Program is a program for youth that are interested in law enforcement,” Bay County Sheriff Tommy Ford said in a statement.

“It breaks my heart to know the damage that these actions have caused our kids in the program.”

_____ has been placed on unpaid leave and is facing a sexual battery charge.

Ford said he planned to meet with parents of other teens enrolled in the program to address any concerns they have stemming from the arrest.

“We will not let the actions of one person destroy the many positive successes of this program,” Ford said.

Another cop busted…everybody pretend to be shocked! I do love when the self righteous fall.

A thought? What this man is accused of will always be wrong. Mostly because it is an abuse of the position. These teens are not in the program to, “Hook up”, the adults shouldn’t be involved with this program for that reason either. I can excuse a teen for being a teen, but the adult needs to be an adult…always. You want to hook up with teens, don’t become a cop, and certainly don’t get involved with the program for teens that want to be cops! That is the most troubling part of this for me.

I get it he was a cop in a position of trust and he violated that trust and his police code BUT come on a 21 year old and a 17 year old, if he wasn’t a cop this would’ve never made the news, I don’t think the DA here in California would even pick this case up
He said they hook up 7 times poor guy sounds like he was seduce by this young woman.

Once again. I sure am glad we had the Sex Offender Registry to help prevent this crime. Oh wait.

Yes, while he was a person in authority and he shouldn’t have been hooking up with this girl, when will the United States lower the age of consent to a more respectable age like what is across Europe of 15 or 16 years old? Of course, that would erase probably a good third of the sex offenders from registering in the United States. And of course, we’d lose the income from having all those people on the registry. Kind of like me in my state, lifetime GPS for simple possession of CP! Got to keep the cash cow!

Sheriff’s Youth Cadet Program “If it protects provides just one child….” 🤨 😒 🙄

Anyone notice the link to “Operation Fall Haul”? Shady Grady at it again…

I’m surprised the sheriff department didn’t investigate themselves and find no wrongdoing.

There’s a certain humor to the program’s acronym being FLEE.

Honestly, in a situation like this (21-yo/17-yo), I don’t know which is worse: law enforcement arresting one of its own “carceral cannibalism”?) or law enforcement giving a pass/hiding the offense. 🤷🏻‍♂️😏
